FAQs
What is a doula?
Doulas are trained to understand, educate, and advocate for the person that is pregnant and their families during birth, labor, and postpartum. We do not give medical advice as we are not medical professionals.
Black doulas and midwives have been shown to improve Black maternal and infant health outcomes and are being integrated into more birth programs.
Can you take photos/videos if requested?
Yes! If you’d like, I can capture special moments during labor and birth. My focus will always be on supporting you first, so I’ll only record when it feels natural and doesn’t take away from your experience.
What is your birth philosophy or approach?
I believe birth is a sacred, powerful experience that should be respected and centered around you. My role is to support your choices, offer evidence-based information, and help create a calm, safe environment whether it’s at home or in a hospital.
How far in advance should I book?
The sooner, the better! Many families book their doula in the first or second trimester to make sure I’m available for their due date. If your due date is sooner, reach out anyway — I sometimes have last-minute openings.
What is your payment policy? Do you offer payment plans?
Yes! I believe doula care should be accessible, so I offer flexible payment plans and a sliding scale fee. If we decide to move forward after your consultation, a deposit will secure your spot on my schedule. The remaining balance can be paid in installments before your due date.
